Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool
The statistics show that Liverpool lost at Nottingham and had a
terrible league debut.
It was believed that Liverpool had finally begun their campaign
after defeating West Ham and Manchester City back-to-back at Anfield.
Liverpool slips up
On the 13th day of the Premier League, on Saturday, October 22,
2022, Jürgen Klopp's team lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on the home field.
Forest, a Premier League newcomer, triumphed 1-0 on the strength of
a goal from Taiwo Awoniyi in the 55th minute. However, despite dominating the
game, Liverpool ran across Dean Henderson of Forest, who put up an outstanding
display and made numerous saves.
Following this setback, Liverpool (7th with 16 points) is now seven
points off the lead and four points behind Chelsea in fourth place, who holds
the final Champions League qualifying spot.
An important black series
Two numbers demonstrate that the Reds are off to a poor start to
the season. Since the 2006–2007 campaign, Liverpool has not won in any of their
last five away games. Rafael Benitez was in charge of Liverpool at the time,
and the Spaniard even went seven games without a victory away from Anfield.
Another damaging statistic for Liverpool is that after 11 games
this season, the team has already suffered three losses. This represents one
more loss than the whole 2021–2022 season (2 defeats in 38 matches).
Despite the Reds' best efforts, Jürgen Klopp and his team have an
insane schedule ahead of them: Ajax (away, Champions League, October 26), Leeds
(home, Premier League, October 29), Naples (home, Champions League, November
1), Tottenham (away, Premier League, November 6), Derby County (home, League
Cup, November 9), and Southampton (home, Premier League, November 12).
Manchester City vs Brighton
Manchester City continues to advance. The Citizens defeated
Brighton (3-1) at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday after losing to Liverpool
(1-0) the previous weekend. Erling Haaland made a double as a signal, and Kevin
de Bruyne finished off his team's victory with a brushed shot into the top
corner. Tottenham loses ground to the Skyblues as they maintain second place,
putting pressure on Arsenal, who will visit Southampton on Sunday.
Brighton plays well-played football, but they still lose. Roberto
De Zerbi The Italian coach led the Seagulls to victory against Manchester City
but suffered his third loss in five games overall. He, like other Premier
League coaches, failed to discover the magic formula to stifle Erling Haaland
and instead used the Norwegian's standard fare. The latter, who had already
adjusted to the English championship, scored twice to raise his tally to 17
goals in 10 contests.
ALISSON ACTUALLY INSPIRED EDERSON
Last weekend's assist by Alisson for Mohamed Salah provided Ederson and the Skyblues some inspiration. By launching Haaland with a long clearance, the Brazilian goalie made his kicking ability speak for the opening goal. Lewis Dunk was eliminated by the Scandinavian's call/counter-call, his quickness allowed him to defeat Robert Sanchez, who arrived just in time, and his shoulder shot launched Adam Webster into the air, where he pushed the ball into the open goal (1-0, 22nd).
As he has been so frequently since arriving in England, Haaland was
once more the big man of this conference. He converted a penalty earned by
Bernardo Silva (2-0, 42nd) into power, becoming the first Manchester City
player since Sergio Agüero in February 2018 to score in seven straight home
games in all competitions.
After ten minutes, Pep Guardiola was clearly displeased with his
team's amateurish start to the game. During a break, he didn't think twice to
gather Haaland, De Bruyne, Dias, and Ederson to refocus his team. Despite his
protestations throughout the opening act, the Cityzens emerged from the locker
room in high spirits. They were taken aback when Leandro Trossard (2-1, 53rd)
Ederson wasn't blame-free on this obvious shot at the near post. After going
three games without scoring, Brighton scored again.
KDB DELIVERED THE DEATH BLOW
However, Manchester City has a XXL bench that gives it a leg up.
Riyad Mahrez was replaced by Phil Foden, who devoured every ball he touched on
Saturday afternoon and was erratic. Kevin de Bruyne, who was a little late,
awoke in the last 30 minutes. The Belgian completed his team's victory and
marked his third-place finish in the Ballon d'Or 2022 with a beautiful brushed
outside-the-area goal (3-1, 75th).
Tottenham was positioned at 3 lengths as a result of this triumph,
and City now stands within one point of Arsenal, who is moving to Southampton's
grass this Sunday. The Seagulls are still in eighth place for the time being.
